Gym Ettiquete

The gym in the Gold Stein Fitness Center to me was the epitome of gym etiquette. People interacted with a lot of respect for one another. The gym was always cleaned up and when one person finished, they made sure they cleaned up after themselves and racked the weights accordingly.
As I continued my observations, I came across many people who expressed themselves with gym manners. When walking in and heading over to a station, I grabbed a seat on a machine that was not being used. My first interaction with someone in the gym was when that particular person came up to me and asked me if I was using the machine and if I was, if I could please let them know when I finished. Not once did I feel rushed nor bothered in my first interaction with someone in this gym. Through time, I believe that this gym has set a culture of its own. The people who have used this gym in the past made sure that simple gym rules were applied and maintained and it has continued through time.
This gym is a very peaceful one and people talk very lo
w so that their conversation does not interrupt the people who are working out around them. The only sounds heard are the footsteps of the treadmill and weights being racked. People shy away from slamming and throwing weights around on the floor. This is very obnoxious and the people here know that throwing weights around is only a distraction. As I continued my visualization of the social space, I saw a good handful of people wipe down their area with sanitizing wipes. Most people often forget to wipe down their area, but in this particular gym there is a sign that reminds people to do so. Wiping down an area after using it reduces the spread of germs and overall makes the gym a safer, cleaner place. It's good to know that this particular gym has people that actually pay attention to signs and follow directions.
As I payed more attention to the surrounding areas, I saw that people helped each other throughout the gym.  People spotted each other during sets and made sure that the person they were spotting were pushing through every set somewhat like their motivator. I witnessed a set of a girl and guy spotting each other on the squat rack. It was quite the scene because at the same time they were spotting each other, they were breaking the stereotype of woman spotting men because men are too "strong" for that.
Women in this gym were mostly on the treadmill and on the squat racks while the men were on the machines and free weights. This was quite the observation for me because I noticed women sweating more than men because the women would run for a long distance and men would mostly train their upper body and focus on particular muscles. Overall, this gym has one of the most proper gym etiquette that I have ever seen and both men and women enjoy this space.
